Hi prayer folks,
We’re back from our one week trip in Singapore. Despite a crazy first 48 hours (you can read the “gross” details on Danny’s blog), Danny kicked butt on the GREs and we had a fabulous time. We went to a lot of fun places like Sentosa, botanical garden, Snow City and the Night Safari. While I ate to my heart’s content on chili crab, fishhead curry, laksa, prata, and other culinary delights the boys got their fill of McD’s, satay, and dumplings. But more than all the feasting we had a wonderful time with our awesome friends there. Just hanging out with them totally refreshed us. Now back to Cambodia…
Sunrise House – Apparently the owner of our facilities is battling with her children about what to do with the house. She still wants to lease it to us but her children want to sell it. The staff are a bit concerned since the facilities are great and the rent is really affordable. Please pray for resolution and if necessary new facilities that would be comfortable for the hospice and have enough office space. Incidentally, if Sunrise moves, our family will have to find a new place to live too.
Audit – Our annual audit is next week where we have an outside auditor come to check all the records for about 3 days. Although we’re not that concerned because of Danny’s meticulous record keeping, please pray for both a smooth, efficient audit and the ability of the administrative staff to learn through this experience.
Kids – They are happy, healthy, hysterical! Silas is getting better at writing his name with his sidewalk chalk and Cassia, totally wanting to walk, has started cruising a little bit. The best part is watching them play together. No matter what Silas does Cassia thinks it’s completely hilarious and will bust out laughing.
Future – Lastly, thanks for all the encouragement and support after our last update regarding our decision to not continue with InnerCHANGE. In the last few months we’ve been asked by several people to consider quite a few tempting job offers which include opportunities in the States, Europe and other parts of Asia. Although many of these opportunities would be incredibly exciting, we are focusing on Danny getting graduate training in International Public Health and are currently hoping to return to Cambodia (or even stay here if he can do distance learning via the internet) although we are also open to other parts of the developing world. We’ll keep you updated…
Thanks for your interest in our lives,
Anita
